How long will it take a turtle (RES)Red Eared Slider to lay eggs once she is gravid?

My turtle (Red Eared Slider) is showing signs that it is time for her to lay eggs. She has been running around the tank for a few days and this morning she had dug herself a small hole in the upper portion of the tank.

My problem is tomorrow I am supposed to leave for a 10 day trip and I was planning on leaving the turtles in the tank with an automated feeder. The tank only has about 3 inch deep sand in the basking area and I believe this is not enough for her to lay eggs.

I currently have her in a large plastic container filled with 6 inches of soil. If she doesn't lay the eggs before tomorrow morning I'm not sure what I can do. I can't postpone this trip, and taking her with me would be a procedure.

Can I leave her in the tank for 10 days in this state and let her lay eggs when I return?

Any ideas?
