Apr 15, 2020 at 18:19 comment added Allison C Has your cat seen a vet at all since this happened? From your answer, while not clear, it seems like it hasn't happened, and it should have happened immediately after the incident occurred.

Apr 14, 2020 at 17:24 comment added Zibbobz It's extremely normal for a cat to want to have places to hide. Not all cats mind you - some are very social and relaxed, but preferring dark quiet places is normal, and cutting them off from the cat is extremely psychologically damaging. Also, do not use normal human shampoo on a cat. It can be very damaging to their scalp. Use non-scented baby shampoo or a special pet shampoo.
Apr 14, 2020 at 17:20 comment added Thorbjørn Ravn Andersen This cat is traumatised and the way your husband is treating her is not helping. I think the best thing you can do for your cat is to remove one of them from your household.
Apr 14, 2020 at 17:15 comment added brhans I can't help but compare some of the symptoms you're describing with those of a cat I have helped care for in the past. She suffered neurological damage resulting from a head/brain injury and ever since has had epileptic fits of varying frequency and duration, during which she soils herself due to losing control of her body. In addition to others' suggestions that your husband stay well away from your cat (at least for the time being) you urgently need to have her checked by a good vet - and make sure you seek treatment for her head injury. I have never known of a cat to have "night terrors".

Apr 12, 2020 at 1:47 comment added cutrightjm Is your husband always the one that bathes the cat, and have you switched shampoos or used any other new products on your cat since this started happening? If you give her a bath using the same method does has her head swollen in the past?

Reading this gave me the chills. Don't let him ever approach the cat again. If it doesn't work, either let the cat get adopted by an experienced owner (especially because of the uncleanliness) or get rid of your husband. The poor cat has lived through enough hell already

Apr 11, 2020 at 17:18 comment added Ron Beyer Why are you washing your cat? Cats are "self cleaning" and unless your cat is extremely dirty you should leave it to its own devices. Giving a cat a bath is actually detrimental to maintaining the quality of its fur, and if you get water in their ears you can do a lot of damage. Some cats, like hairless ones, need special skin care, but they shouldn't be bathed unless there are extraordinary circumstances.
Apr 11, 2020 at 15:40 comment added Peter - Reinstate Monica Better than sitting down down on your infant, which is what I did. OK, it was on a soft mattress, and his head did not swell up. He is 14 now and does not hate me.

Apr 11, 2020 at 6:09 comment added user6796 It sounds horrific, for him to step on her head to a point of injuring her, it just sounds all sorts of wrong. He should not be bathing her, she is terrified of him. I would not trust him alone with the cat. Why are you bathing her so much?
