My orange tabby cat had kittens 5 months ago and we still have one kitten. You can find the kitten nursing on its mother every couple days and I have figured out that kittens should stop nursing at the age of 8 to 10 weeks. Sometimes I take the kitten off of the mom but it doesn't seem to have changed this nursing situation. The mom doesn't seem to care that the kitten is still nursing on her and actually licks the kitten when this is happening. I thought that the kitten would stop nursing early since she opened her eyes before the other kittens and started walking before them to. She does eat adult wet cat food and kitten/adult dry food. We started her with kitten food at first but then changed to kitten food since the mom eats with them. Can you tell why the kitten still nurses, and how to stop the nursing?
