My cat refused the litter box in our loo, but liked it in the kitchen; our kitchen is very large (no poop near food) but our toilet is small. When we first homed her at 4 years old, she was obedient to us, a sweetie trying to fit in, so the loo was ok. Also we empty the litter box as soon as she does her business.
